George R. Trumble Construction, Inc. was established in August 1974 after George F. Trumble, owner of Trumble & Sons Concrete Contractors, decided to cease concrete flatwork operations in order to focus entirely on excavating and the poured concrete wall business. The trucks and equipment previously used for concrete flatwork were sold to his son, George R. Trumble. The new company, GR Trumble Construction, Inc., also acquired the flatwork customer base and eight employees from the original firm in August 1974.

In 1976, Trumble & Sons Concrete Contractors exited the poured concrete wall business. GR Trumble Construction, Inc. then hired some of the former employees, acquired new forms and equipment, and assumed responsibility for the poured concrete wall operations. That same year, the company reorganized as George R. Trumble, Inc., a C-Corporation incorporated in Kentucky, while continuing to operate under the name GR Trumble Construction, Inc.
